INCAE’S Rector is nominated "Young Global Leader 2008” by the World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum announced today that Dr. Arturo Condo, Rector of INCAE, has been selected as a “2008 Young Global Leader.” This prize is awarded each year to world leaders to recognize their professional achievements, commitment to society and potential to make a better world. This year’s list of young leaders includes government officials, business and academic leaders and representatives from the press and society at large from 65 countries around the world, including: East Asia (64), Europe (58), Middle East and North Africa (12), North America (45), South Asia (24), Sub-Saharan Africa (21) and Latin America (21). “The World Economic Forum is a true community of global decision-makers. We need our Young Global Leaders to be a voice for the future of global thought processes and catalysts for public interest initiatives,” commented Klaus Schwab, Founder and CEO of the World Economic Forum.

The 2008 Young Global Leaders were chosen from a list of more than 5,000 candidates by a selection committee comprised of 31 international media leaders, including: Thomas H. Glocer, Chief Executive Officer, Reuters, England; Arthur Sulzberger, Chairman and Publisher, The New York Times, United States; Robert Thomson, Publisher, Dow Jones & Company and The Wall Street Journal, United States; and Hisashi Hieda, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Fuji Television Network, Japan. This committee is presided by Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan. ?The Young Global Leaders nominated for 2008 include: Vikram Akula, CEO and Founder of SKS Microfinance, India; Steffi Graf, Founder and President of Children for Tomorrow, Germany; Wadah Khafar, General Director, Al Jazera Satellite Network, Qatar; Shakira Mebarak, singer and Founder of Fundación Pies Descalzos, Colombia; among others.
